HeapsTinder for groups?

Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, Snapchat and so on. We are drowning in social apps these days. The latest additions the past years are dating apps like Tinder, Happn and Grindr – and now Heaps; an app that matches parties with guests.

Create, match, chat → PARTY!
Heaps is an app created by six friends and fellow students from Copenhagen – they were tired of seeing a party being held on the other side of the street. Instead of knocking at the door across the street they developed an app that could gather friends for a party. Their inspiration came from a Danish radio station’s New Year’s show aiming to match up groups of people looking for a party to attend or guests to come to their own party.

The concept of Heaps is very simple: you create a group of friends on Heaps (and gives the group a catchy name), and then you write a short description of what your group is searching for in another group. Each person in the group has it’s own profile with pictures from Facebook. When you have created your party-group you’re ready to start in best Tinder-style; you can like and dislike groups – and if there is a match, the members of each group can start writing together.

Heaps vs. Tinder

The interface of Heaps looks a lot like Tinder's; there is a like and a dislike button - and as a new thing Heaps also added a button called 'Direct like'. A 'Direct like' notifies the other group that you like them - exactly like the 'Super Like' does on Tinder.
In contrast to Tinder where you mostly meet with your date alone, you meet a group of people through Heaps, which makes it more comfortable. It’s easier to avoid an awkward meeting because you are supported by your friends when going to a private party with an unknown group of people through Heaps. The primary purpose on Heaps isn't "Netflix and chill" or a romantic date like it is on Tinder. On Heaps you're not looking for a partner but for a party to attend (if you're lucky you can find a partner here). So what makes it different to other meet-up apps like Tinder, Grouper or Happn is that its primary focus has no romantic skew. Matching with other groups on Heaps is promoting social interaction in a way that dating apps don't do with connections between only two people.

One cocktail for free every day?

One free cocktail each day for 49 DKK (7 Euro) - tempting, right? As something new the team behind Heaps created a new app: "Heaps Drinks". Heaps Drinks aims to provide all members with a better night out in the city of Copenhagen. For the cheap amount of 49 DKK you get access to Heaps Drinks, and then you have the opportunity to get a free cocktail every day. Yes, every day! Potentially it is 31 cocktails per month for only 49 DKK. At this moment Heaps Drinks has 31 partner - including some of the best cocktail bars in Copenhagen. It all started to ensure the good start before midnight with one free drink but now the app also offers great discounts all night. Frederik Bjerager, co-founder of Heaps says that the purpose with the app is to move the pre party out of the apartment and down to the bars.

Heaps = the biggest "online nightclub" in the world
The creators of Heaps writes on their blog, that "Heaps is the biggest "online nightclub" in the world - with more than 175.000 users partying on Heaps [...]". Heaps launched in Denmark 2014 and later on also in the U.S, Sweden and Norway. The app therefor has many users but in few countries. It's therefor easy to find a party to attend through the app if you're located in Denmark but in other countries it's more difficult, because there aren't many users of the app. Time will show if the app will get popular all over Europe. I think Heaps has a bright future since it's the first app, which matches parties and guests.

Heaps and Heaps Drinks are available in App Store and Google Play - go get them!
